After returning from another trip to New Zealand last month, I wanted to share some of the features that make New Zealand so unique…and these same features can help you decide if New Zealand is the right destination for your honeymoon.
Arriving into New Zealand is like a breath of fresh air. Driving through the countryside is an experience in itself – a great way to see and enjoy the vast, open spaces and stop for that picture you know will never quite do the scenery justice. I still can’t get over the colors – the greens are greener and the blues are bluer than I’ve ever seen before. Everything is majestic and dramatic, and you’ll find your breath taken away on a regular basis.
With no time constraints, you realize that you can relax and enjoy driving for pleasure, not just as a means to get from point A to point B. Stop in the small towns and enjoy a cup of coffee or a hokey pokey ice cream; believe it or not, even the gas stations have a treat waiting for you…a warm bit of heaven in a meat pie.
One of my goals on this trip was to seek out accommodations that are unique and personal, yet suit different styles – such as the little 3-room only bed and breakfast with opulently decorated themed rooms, within walking distance of the town center; or the 100-room boutique hotel with modern décor and all the facilities and services of a major business hotel.
Of course as an adventure buff, I never turn down an opportunity to interact with the outdoors, especially after taking the time to admire it. Whether it’s 4WD quad biking, river kayaking, white water sledging, or hiking…count me in. I want to see every aspect of the operation, including the transfer vehicle, the outdoor equipment, the guide and service staff, area maintenance, and scenic value – it all has to meld just right to make an outdoor experience enjoyable and memorable. Fortunately there is no shortage of quality adventure in New Zealand!
Yet another focus of my trip was to experience the indigenous Maori culture. The people are warm and friendly, and deeply loyal to their family and traditions. Whether you spend an afternoon learning about their local crafts, enjoying an evening hangi celebration, or spending the night on a traditional Marae, you will inevitably come away with an even deeper appreciation and love for New Zealand.
While there is no doubt traveling to New Zealand is certainly a benefit to the job I do, it’s also the reason that we can provide a honeymoon itinerary that matches each couple’s personalities and interests. With such a personal love for a destination, it’s easy for us to create an itinerary with an image in mind of how the couple will enjoy it, from start to finish.
I am truly excited for everyone who will have the opportunity to travel to New Zealand, especially for a honeymoon – it is a dream trip that will be remembered for a lifetime. Chances are you’ll fall in love with New Zealand as I have, and will already be planning your next trip before the honeymoon is even over. That is the magic of New Zealand.
